Fragile Tension-

Installation @ Teasmith Gallery, London

The teahouse installation is a two tatami size tea room (ni-jo). It utilises unconventional bio-degradable materials made from approximately 4000 pieces of 2mm bamboo rods with Vietnamese rice paper rolls as cladding.

The installation questions the validity of mass, matter and form making in architecture and challenges our cosy assumptions towards objectification and aestheticization. The employment of fragile materials creates tension within such metaphysical elements as light, wind, temperature, gravity and time which strives to evoke a deeper awareness of the relationship between the body and its surroundings.
