Glenn Murcutt Master Class 2002

The project is a further 32 bed accommodation and art studio addition to the site of the education centre’s  increasing number of visitors.

Receiving a scholarship to participate in the Glenn Master Class The Glenn Murcutt Master Class is an intense design studio program conducted by Glenn Murcutt (2002 Pritzker Prize recipient) , Richard Le Plastrier, Peter Stuchbury and Lindsay Johnston for Australians and International architects, designers and students. A maximumof 30 people from all over the world were involved in the program.

The first week was conducted in the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Center where the participants learned the tutor’s common philosophy and their approach to ‘Site’, its flora/ fauna, the climate and the veiw of the indigenous people. The second week was held at the University of Newcastle Architecture Studio where the 30 participants were able to implement the gained knowledge through a design proposal, and presented to the the tutors.
