ARCHAELOGICAL AND HISTORICAL MUSEUM, MALMO SWEDEN

Archaeology is the study of ancient cultures and people by analysing remains, particularly those found in the ground. To study archaeology is to study time, people and events of a particularly layer of a site which is part of the layer in history and memory. These memories are the result of our intervention with the place and a reflection of our relationship with the environment and each other. One way for architecture to experience the genus loci of the site is to bring these qualities into surface. By excavating these memories deep within the site, one hopes to bring forth memories deep within our subconscious. The feeling we feel coming across a ruin is reminder of many things about us and our existence.
